Riot Games is set to implement significant price changes for its virtual currency across various regions, with some countries facing increases of over 70%.

These adjustments will take effect on September 18, 2024, impacting all five of Riot Games' live titles: League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, Valorant, and League of Legends: Wild Rift.

While Riot acknowledges the difficulty these changes may pose for players, they believe the adjustments are necessary to prevent exploitation through methods like VPNs.

The company explains that these price adjustments are driven by fluctuations in exchange rates and local economic conditions.

Riot aims to create a more balanced pricing system across regions to combat manipulation and ensure fairness among players.

Notable increases include 73% in Ukraine, 41% in Vietnam, and 40% in the Philippines, while some regions, like Colombia, will see a 16% drop in pricing.

In the Americas, Brazil will experience a 14% increase, while Canada will not see any changes.

In Asia-Pacific, Taiwan's price adjustments will go live on October 4, 2024, and Korea's on September 23, 2024.

As part of the changes, Riot is enhancing certain currency bundles, such as increasing the bonus for Valorant's 2050 VP bundle from 150 to 300 VP.

Riot expressed understanding of the challenges these increases pose for players, emphasizing the necessity of adjustments for fairness.

The company noted that a significant portion of currency purchases in some regions are made by third parties or players from outside those regions.

In regions experiencing price increases, Riot is temporarily offering extra bonus VP with in-client purchases until the price updates take effect.
