Tecno has unveiled its latest foldable smartphones, the Phantom V Fold2 and V Flip2, with the Phantom V Fold2 priced at $1,099 and set to launch on September 23 in Africa.

The Phantom V Flip2, priced at $699, will also be available on the same date, expanding to other key markets afterward.

The Phantom V Fold2 boasts impressive specifications, including a Dimensity 9000+ chipset, a 7.85-inch inner display, a 6.42-inch cover display, and a substantial 5,750 mAh battery.

This model can achieve a full charge in just 49 minutes, outperforming competitors like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Pixel Fold 9 Pro.

New features include support for an active stylus, the Phantom V Pen, and IP54 dust and splash resistance, enhancing its usability.

The camera system has been upgraded to a triple camera setup featuring a 50MP main sensor, a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and an ultrawide sensor.

The design incorporates a cleaner camera island and a light blue vegan leather back, developed in collaboration with Loewe Design Studio.

Despite its strengths, the Phantom V Fold2 is seen as a mid-range foldable, with some compromises in specifications to maintain a competitive price.

In benchmark tests, the V Fold 2's performance fell short compared to competitors like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Pixel Fold 9 Pro.

Tecno aims to position the V Fold 2 as a more affordable option in the foldable market, despite the compromises in certain features.

Both displays are LTPO AMOLEDs with FHD+ resolution and refresh rates ranging from 1-120Hz, providing a smooth visual experience.

It lacks an IP rating for water and dust resistance and offers only three years of Android OS upgrades, which is less than many rivals.
