French actor and director Nicolas Bedos has been sentenced to one year in prison, with six months suspended, after being found guilty of sexually assaulting two women in 2023.

The court's decision came on October 22, 2023, following allegations from three women regarding incidents that occurred between 2018 and 2023.

He claimed to have no recollection of the alleged incidents, stating that he experienced blackouts due to intoxication.

One of the accusers recounted an incident in which Bedos allegedly approached her in a nightclub and touched her inappropriately in early June 2023.

During the trial, Bedos denied being a sexual predator, attributing his behavior to excessive alcohol consumption.

The court mandated that Bedos serve his six-month prison sentence at home under electronic monitoring, alongside addiction and psychological treatment.

He is also prohibited from contacting the victims and will be registered in the national sex offender database.

Two additional women also came forward with similar allegations, including one who described unwanted touching in 2018.

Bedos's lawyer, Me Julia Minkowski, expressed shock at the severity of the sentence, labeling it as unprecedented and announcing plans to appeal.

Despite the conviction, Bedos was acquitted of previous sexual harassment charges from 2018 due to reasonable doubt.

Another victim, a waitress, testified that Bedos grabbed her waist and kissed her neck while intoxicated on May 11, 2023.

Minkowski characterized the sentence as 'humiliating' and suggested that Bedos was judged more for his public persona than for his actions.
