Renault, Volvo Trucks, and CMA CGM have launched a joint venture named 'Flexis' to produce electric commercial vehicles in France.

The vans will utilize a highly modular, fully-electric skateboard platform, designed for increased efficiency and customization for delivery services.

Flexis plans to target global markets, with a focus on Europe, Brazil, and North America, aiming for a significant impact on the van industry.

Renault and Volvo are each investing €300 million for a 45 percent stake in Flexis, with a total investment of €720 million for the venture.

The electric vans will feature design innovations for ease of use, such as a lower entry point and a software platform to assist driver onboarding and operation.

Production is set to start in Sandouville, France, with the goal of beginning manufacturing by 2026.

Flexis aspires to redefine the van market, positioning itself as the 'Tesla of commercial vehicles', despite facing competition from other automakers like Stellantis.
