Three years after the tragic shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of 'Rust,' the film is set to premiere at the EnergaCamerimage International Film Festival in Poland.

The premiere is scheduled for November 16-23, 2024, and will honor Hutchins' legacy in the film industry.

Production of 'Rust' resumed in 2023 under director Joel Souza, with Baldwin reprising his role as Harland Rust.

Alec Baldwin, who faced involuntary manslaughter charges related to Hutchins' death, had his case dismissed in July 2024 due to issues with evidence handling.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the film's armorer, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 18 months in prison for her role in the incident.

After the screening, a panel discussion will take place with director Joel Souza, cinematographer Bianca Cline, and Hutchins' mentor Stephen Lighthill to honor her memory.

The film's narrative follows a young boy in 1880s Wyoming who must escape with his grandfather after the latter is sentenced to hang for accidentally killing a rancher.

An investigation revealed that the camera crew had walked off the set earlier that day due to safety concerns, including previous accidental discharges of firearms.

The festival premiere will feature discussions on women's roles in cinematography, Hutchins' contributions, and safety protocols on film sets.

Festival director Marek Zydowicz noted that Hutchins had advocated for 'Rust' to be showcased at Camerimage, highlighting her deep connection to the cinematography community.

The shooting occurred during a rehearsal on October 21, 2021, when Baldwin discharged a weapon that contained a live round, resulting in Hutchins' death and injuries to director Joel Souza.

Investigations confirmed that the bullet that killed Hutchins was live ammunition, but the circumstances of how it ended up on set remain unclear.
