Netflix Debuts 'Terminator Zero' Anime on Judgement Day: A Dystopian Clash Against Skynet
August 1, 2024Netflix is set to premiere its new anime series 'Terminator Zero' on August 29, 2024, coinciding with the iconic Judgement Day.
The recently released trailer highlights the aftermath of Skynet's war against humanity, showcasing iconic imagery reimagined in anime style.
All eight episodes of 'Terminator Zero' will be available for streaming on the same day as its premiere.
Set in a dystopian future where machines have nearly destroyed humanity, the series explores the ongoing conflict between humans and the AI Skynet.
The narrative follows scientist Malcolm Lee, voiced by André Holland, who creates a new AI system named Kokoro to combat Skynet's dominance.
As Malcolm develops Kokoro, Skynet sends a Terminator, voiced by Timothy Olyphant, back to 1997 to eliminate him and his family.
To protect Malcolm and his children from the impending robot apocalypse, resistance fighter Eiko, voiced by Sonoya Mizuno, is sent back in time.
Eiko, a character reminiscent of Kyle Reese from the original film, showcases her combat skills in the trailer, including fighting off a Terminator raid.
The series also features Ann Dowd as The Prophet, a philosophical leader of the Resistance, adding depth to the storyline.
This anime adaptation marks the first of its kind in the Terminator franchise, introducing new characters while existing within the established universe.
Created by Mattson Tomlin, known for his work on 'The Batman', the series is produced by Skydance and animated by Production I.G.
