Jeff Bridges is set to star as Grendel in a new live-action adaptation of the Beowulf saga.

The film is directed by Robert D. Krzykowski and produced by the Jim Henson Company.

The impressive cast includes Dave Bautista as Beowulf, Bryan Cranston as King Hrothgar, and Thomasin McKenzie as Queen Wealhtheow.

Bridges recently overcame lymphoma and this marks his return to acting after his recovery.

The Jim Henson Creature Shop is in charge of creature design, and T Bone Burnett will contribute original songs.

International sales will be launched by Palisades Park Pictures at Cannes, with North American rights co-repped by CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group.

Filming is scheduled to begin in Europe later this year, with no release date currently announced.
