Warner Bros. Discovery and New Line Cinema are expanding the 'Lord of the Rings' franchise with two new films.

The first upcoming film, 'The Hunt for Gollum,' is slated for a 2026 release with Andy Serkis both starring and directing.

Original trilogy collaborators Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens will produce 'The Hunt for Gollum'.

A second 'Lord of the Rings' film is in the early stages of scriptwriting.

The franchise aims to build on its prior success, having grossed nearly $6 billion and secured multiple Academy Awards.

An animated feature, 'The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim,' is also set to premiere in December.
