Tesla's Cybercab: Affordable Robotaxi Under $30K, Boasts 800V Platform and No Steering Wheel
December 5, 2024Elon Musk has announced that Tesla's upcoming Robotaxi, known as the Cybercab, will be priced below $30,000 before any potential federal subsidies.
The Cybercab will utilize inductive charging technology and is expected to feature the same advanced 800V platform as the Cybertruck.
Equipped with Tesla's latest Full Self-Driving version 13, the Robotaxi boasts significant advancements, including enhanced autoparking capabilities.
The Cybercab will come with a 40 kWh battery pack, allowing for a range of 200 miles on a single charge, thanks to its lightweight design.
Designed with large-diameter tires that have low rolling resistance, the Cybercab omits traditional steering wheels and pedals, further reducing its weight.
Notably, the Cybercab will have significantly fewer parts than Tesla's Model 3 and Model Y, featuring only half the parts of the Model 3 and 40% of the Model Y's parts.
This streamlined design will enhance production efficiency, enabling the Cybercab production line to produce twice as many vehicles per hour compared to other manufacturers.
Tesla emphasizes that most trips in the U.S. involve one or two passengers, which justifies the Cybercab's two-seat configuration.
The two-seat design not only enhances energy efficiency and aerodynamics but also simplifies cleaning.
Additionally, the Cybercab will feature wireless charging pads that achieve a 93% efficiency rate in recharging the vehicle.
Future versions of the Cybercab are already in development, retaining the futuristic wing doors design element.
