Aquidneck Island Secures $2M for Climate Action, Hosts Virtual Forum on Future Resilience
March 28, 2025
The Aquidneck Island Climate Caucus, established by Representatives Lauren H. Carson and Terri Cortvriend, focuses on promoting climate mitigation and adaptation efforts within the community.
In a significant move to combat climate challenges like flooding and water quality, the Aquidneck Island Land Trust has secured nearly $2 million in funding, collaborating with local municipalities and Naval Station Newport.
To further the conversation on climate change, Representatives Carson and Cortvriend will host a virtual discussion on March 30, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The event will feature insights from Terry Sullivan, Executive Director of the Aquidneck Island Land Trust, and Paige Myatt, Director of Climate Resilience, who will discuss regional resilience coordination efforts.
This forum is open to the public, but attendees must pre-register through a provided link to secure their participation.
