In response to the attack, the strategic committee of the SPW, with government approval, has temporarily severed all internet connections to assess the extent of the breach and implement necessary security measures.

The government anticipates major consequences for public services due to this cyber incident.

As of now, there are no indications that confidential data has been compromised, but the timeline for returning to normal operations remains uncertain.

A crisis management team has been established to identify urgent priorities and will convene on Monday morning.

This decision to sever internet connections was made in consultation with the Belgian Cybersecurity Centre (CCB).
