An independent report released today detailed alarming experiences of sexual harassment and objectification among employees at Nine Network, supported by testimonials from both current and former staff.

The findings revealed that 62% of broadcast employees witnessed or experienced abuse of power, while 57% faced bullying, discrimination, or harassment, and 30% reported incidents of sexual harassment.

Stefanovic also conveyed shock and disappointment, admitting that many men, including himself, were unaware of the extent of the issues highlighted in the report.

The inquiry uncovered a 'boys club' environment at Nine, characterized by bullying, sexual harassment, and an abuse of power among employees.

Today show host Karl Stefanovic expressed disappointment towards the 'good men' at Nine Network for failing to protect their female colleagues in light of the report's findings.

He noted that many employees are hurting and questioned the effectiveness of speaking out if perpetrators are not held accountable.

Employees have expressed fear of retaliation when reporting misconduct, indicating a systemic issue regarding abuse of power and harassment within Channel 9.

He acknowledged the need for change and committed to supporting female colleagues, emphasizing the importance of listening and acting to create a better environment.

Stefanovic confirmed that multiple investigations are currently underway and stressed the importance of patience and proper processes in addressing these serious issues.

The report criticized management for failing to protect staff, revealing that some employees were driven to self-harm due to the toxic workplace environment.

In response, Nine Network has committed to implementing all 22 recommendations from the report, which include revamping its HR department and reviewing its code of conduct.
