The Belgian art collective Captain Boomer has installed a lifelike beached sperm whale sculpture at Adelaide's Glenelg Beach for the Adelaide Festival.

The installation seeks to raise awareness about the climate crisis and is part of a world tour by the collective.

Created by the late artist Dirk Claesen, the whale has been previously showcased in Antwerp and other cities.
