TDK Unveils World's First 4K Full-Color Laser Control for AR/VR Smart Glasses at CEATEC 2024
October 22, 2024Among the notable introductions was the world's first full-color laser control device for 4K smart glasses, which utilizes cutting-edge lithium niobate (LiNbO3) thin film technology.
This new laser control device is capable of achieving color changes over ten times faster than traditional systems that depend on electrical current adjustments.
At CEATEC 2024 in Tokyo, TDK unveiled innovative hardware components designed for AR/VR smart glasses, highlighting their advancements in retinal projection technology.
These advancements collectively enable AR/VR devices to reach 4K resolution or higher while also minimizing power consumption, a critical factor for mobile smart glasses.
TDK also envisions broader applications for this technology beyond AR/VR, particularly in high-speed optical communication, which is increasingly important for data centers facing rising data volumes.
Additionally, TDK's upgraded retinal projector now supports 1080p resolution, a significant enhancement from the previous year's 720p model.
The capabilities of this technology were demonstrated in collaboration with QD Laser Co., Ltd., featuring a video demonstration that showcased the integration of direct retinal projection.
