The Quest 3S, a budget-friendly alternative to the Quest 3, is set to launch on October 15, 2024, featuring a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset and a high-resolution display, priced at $299.99.

This testing comes on the heels of Meta's recent cancellation of the La Jolla project, which was intended to compete with the Apple Vision Pro, highlighting the company's ongoing experimentation and product cancellations.

Meta has a history of testing various designs and features, but it is important to note that not all prototypes will ultimately reach the market.

This new headset design features angled lenses aimed at enhancing the field of view, although it remains in the early stages of development.

Notably, the prototype is wired and includes bulky attachments, indicating its primary purpose is for testing rather than for consumer use.
