US Dominates Global AI Race with $335.2B in Investments; China and UK Follow
August 19, 2024The United States leads the global rankings in artificial intelligence (AI) advancements, boasting $335.2 billion in private investments over the last decade and 5,500 AI start-ups.
China follows in second place with $103.5 billion in investments, although it has fewer start-ups than the U.S., it employs a higher percentage of AI specialists at 0.64% of its workforce.
The United Kingdom ranks third, having invested $22.2 billion and established 727 AI start-ups, with $3.78 billion allocated in 2023 alone.
Israel is positioned fourth with approximately $12.83 billion in AI investments and 442 start-ups, showcasing the highest concentration of AI talent at 1.13% of its workforce.
Canada rounds out the top five countries with $10.35 billion in investments and a significant number of job postings in the AI sector, accounting for 1.05% of all vacancies.
India holds the seventh position, having invested $9.85 billion and hosting 338 AI-related start-ups, surpassing Canada in AI job availability.
France ranks eighth with $8.31 billion in investments and a higher number of AI start-ups than India, while also employing 1.07% of its workforce in AI roles.
South Korea is ninth, with $7.25 billion in investments, but has the least number of AI job vacancies among the top ten countries.
Singapore rounds out the top ten with $6.25 billion in investments, 1.07% of its workforce as AI specialists, and only 193 start-ups.
