A collaborative effort between Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Research Institute and Amity University has led to the development of an AI-based technology for lung cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The new technology provides a non-invasive and cost-effective alternative to traditional biopsy procedures, which could revolutionize lung cancer management.

Utilizing CT scans and AI, the technology can predict gene mutations, notably EGFR mutations, enabling personalized treatment without invasive biopsies.

The innovation is based on data from over 2,200 lung cancer patients and has been published in the Lancet (Southeast Asia), showing high accuracy in its predictions.

Plans are in place to expand the use of this AI technology in hospitals across India and potentially worldwide, addressing challenges in early detection and treatment of lung cancer.
