The U.S. National Science Foundation and Department of Energy have launched the first 35 projects supported by the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource Pilot.

Researchers and educators are offered access to advanced computing systems, cloud platforms, and other AI research tools, with contributions from Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and NVIDIA.

The NSF aims to empower university educators to train students with practical AI projects by providing access to substantial computing and data resources.

Selected projects cover a broad spectrum of AI research, emphasizing areas like language model safety, privacy, federated models, and specialized domain research.

The NAIRR Pilot is designed to promote diversity in the AI research community, reflecting the broader demographics of the United States.
