During a visit to Algeria on April 17, 2025, Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty described the relationship between Egypt and Algeria as 'historic' and emphasized the intent to strengthen bilateral relations.

In a meeting with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, the two leaders stressed the importance of intensifying consultations on various bilateral and regional issues.

They discussed Egypt's readiness to share expertise in development, especially in infrastructure and urban community projects, showcasing the capabilities of Egyptian companies.

A key objective of their collaboration is to hold the ninth session of the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Supreme Committee in Cairo later in 2025, alongside a business forum to boost economic collaboration.

This diplomatic engagement occurs ahead of the Arab League Summit scheduled for May 17, 2025, in Baghdad, which will be Iraq's second hosting of the meetings since the 2003 US invasion.

The ministers also addressed regional issues, including the situations in Gaza and Libya, reaffirming Egypt's commitment to humanitarian efforts and the rejection of Palestinian displacement.

They emphasized the international community's responsibility to protect civilians affected by ongoing conflicts and the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian State along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The discussion included mobilizing international support for the reconstruction of Gaza while ensuring the rights of Palestinians to remain on their land.
