TikTok Launches UK SME Council to Boost Small Business Visibility and Influence

TikTok has launched its first Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Council to empower small businesses and amplify their voices in policy-making.
The council is comprised of 20 small businesses from various sectors across the UK, all of which leverage TikTok to reach customers and increase sales.
Dominique Bogle Khan, founder of Hair Anatomy, praised TikTok for enhancing the visibility of small brands and fostering community connections through the SME Council.
The inaugural meeting of the SME Council occurred on April 4, 2025, in Stoke-on-Trent, where members shared their experiences and strategies for utilizing TikTok.
In 2024, TikTok emerged as the fastest growing online retailer, boasting a 131% increase in shoppers on TikTok Shop and a remarkable 180% revenue growth, according to Neilson IQ.
Since 2018, TikTok has become increasingly significant for SMEs, hosting over 1.5 million UK firms, including family businesses and side hustles.
Activities facilitated by TikTok for these businesses include LIVE Shopping through TikTok Shop, shoppable ads, and sharing behind-the-scenes content of their operations.
Ali Law, TikTok UK's Director of Public Policy & Government Affairs, highlighted the platform's role in helping small businesses connect with new communities and customers.
Insights gathered from the SME Council meetings will contribute to the TikTok SME Manifesto, which aims to enhance SME growth and encourage entrepreneurship.
