Starlink Expands to 100+ Countries, Faces Capacity Limits in Key US Cities
February 18, 2025
Since its launch in the fall of 2020, Starlink has deployed over 7,000 low Earth orbit satellites, aiming to deliver faster internet speeds and lower latency compared to traditional satellite providers.
In terms of pricing, Starlink increased its monthly subscription fees from $99 to $120 last year, while reducing the one-time hardware fee from $599 to $349.
SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service has significantly expanded its global reach, now available in over 100 countries.
The service is accessible in large regions across the US, Europe, South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia, although many cities in the US are currently marked as 'sold out'.
Specific cities such as Seattle, Portland, San Diego, and Austin are among those that have reached capacity for Starlink service.
Looking ahead, some remaining countries and areas are expected to gain Starlink availability in 2025, contingent on regulatory approval and capacity limitations.
