Tesla Rolls Out Major FSD Updates: Enhanced AI, Dynamic Routing, and Weather Integration
January 23, 2025The latest updates for Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology, versions 12.6.2 and 13.2.5, were officially released on January 22, 2025.
These updates are being rolled out to vehicles equipped with Hardware 3 (HW3) and Hardware 4 (HW4), including the Model 3.
Version 13.2.5 enhances the driving network with features such as 36 Hz full-resolution AI4 video inputs, 4.2 times data scaling, and a reduction in latency by half.
The update also introduces speed profiles tailored for both city streets and highways, improved collision avoidance predictions, and dynamic routing to navigate around detected road closures.
A new camera visibility detection feature has been added, which alerts drivers about poor camera visibility at the end of a drive, with images stored locally for two days unless sharing is enabled.
Drivers now have the option to share sound detection data with Tesla, which can enhance safety features by helping the system recognize emergency vehicles.
Additionally, the vehicle's navigation map now includes real-time precipitation and weather updates for the destination, although this feature requires Premium Connectivity.
Future improvements planned for version 13.2.5 include a threefold increase in model size scaling, audio inputs for better handling of emergency vehicles, and enhanced navigation options.
While the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) feature allows for navigation with lane changes and turns under driver supervision, it does not render the vehicle fully autonomous.
Previous updates, such as version 12.6, have also introduced more natural lane change decisions, a redesigned controller for smoother tracking, and an updated maximum speed feature that optimizes speed within legal limits.
