SpaceX is set to retire the portability add-on for residential Starlink subscribers, transitioning affected customers to the 'Roam Unlimited' plan at a new rate of $165 per month, effective February 23, 2025.

This change has sparked dissatisfaction among subscribers, many of whom are concerned about the financial implications of the new plan.

However, the price for the Starlink Roam plan has since increased from $135 to $165 per month, allowing for international use and operation while in motion.

In April 2023, SpaceX ceased offering the portability add-on to new subscribers, restricting it to existing users only.

In November 2024, SpaceX reactivated a waitlist for Starlink in select major US cities, indicating a resurgence in demand for the service.

Previously, existing customers with the portability add-on experienced a price increase, raising their bills to $145 after a hike in the residential plan last year.
