However, the Italian telecom association, Asstel, has raised concerns regarding Starlink's potential impact on the local telecommunications industry.

Asstel warns that Starlink's services will compete directly with local telecom operators, which could disrupt the market.

An internal memo from Asstel, shared with select politicians, underscores the urgency of addressing these concerns ahead of Starlink's anticipated launch in Italy.

The memo highlights that Italy's current regulations for low-orbit satellite broadband do not support SpaceX's direct-to-consumer business model.

Additionally, Asstel suggests that the government should implement regulations regarding the local storage of sensitive data related to Starlink's operations.

The lobby group is also calling for regulatory measures on frequency usage and compliance enforcement for satellite broadband operators.
