SpaceX Boosts Starlink Roam Plan Price, Adds 'Roam Unlimited' with In-Motion and International Usage Features
September 11, 2024SpaceX has announced an increase in the monthly fee for its Starlink Roam plan, raising it from $150 to $165 and rebranding it as 'Roam Unlimited.'
These changes in pricing and service are also impacting users in Europe, although the costs may vary by region.
Subscribers can now use their Starlink dish internationally in supported countries for up to two months and receive service up to 12 nautical miles offshore.
The company justified this price hike by highlighting enhancements to the service and ongoing improvements to the network.
The new Roam Unlimited plan introduces the ability for users to utilize Starlink while in motion, accommodating vehicles traveling up to 100 miles per hour, a significant upgrade from the previous limit of 10 miles per hour.
Some users have expressed frustration over the price increase, fearing that the changes may prioritize wealthier customers or businesses.
In response to customer needs, a more affordable 'Roam 50GB' plan has been introduced for all Roam subscribers, priced at $50 per month with a data limit of 50GB.
Previously, SpaceX offered a global roaming plan for $200 a month, but this was raised to $400 due to misuse by some customers, and it is no longer available for new customers.
