Tesla's Trip Planner Update Enhances Charging Efficiency and Autopark Expands to New Regions
November 22, 2024Max de Zegher, Director of Charging for North America, has confirmed that the much-anticipated 'Arrival State of Charge' feature is on its way, thanks to significant updates to Tesla's Trip Planner.
This updated Trip Planner will enhance user experience by calculating optimal charging stops based on factors such as driving efficiency, weather, terrain, and traffic conditions.
The 'Arrival State of Charge' feature aims to prevent low charge levels at destinations without nearby chargers, significantly improving travel convenience for Tesla users.
This feature is expected to be released following the upcoming Holiday Update, with prior hints in Tesla's app update indicating its development.
In addition to these updates, Tesla is introducing Autopark to the UK and other countries for the first time, utilizing vision-based technology that enhances reliability and efficiency by eliminating reliance on ultrasonic sensors.
The recent software update, version 2024.44.3, includes improvements to Autopark functionality, focusing on performance and visualization enhancements.
Furthermore, the update enables Smart Summon to roll out in Europe, although it comes with strict restrictions that limit its usability compared to North America.
Despite these limitations, the new 'Actually Smart Summon' feature in Europe marks a step towards greater autonomy under the stringent UNECE regulations.
Tesla has also introduced a feature that allows users to report Supercharger issues, such as lighting and cleanliness, thereby enhancing feedback regarding charging stations.
Wes Morrill, the lead engineer for the Cybertruck, announced that a backend rewrite of the Trip Planner will improve accuracy and allow users to set their desired charge level upon arrival.
